Development of a Single Ply Epichlorohydrin-Ethylene Oxide Coated Fabric for Collapsible Tanks.

Abstract

The study is directed to development of a single ply coated fabric suitable for manufacture of self-supporting collapsible fuel storage tanks. In order to best utilize a promising elastomer, epichlorohydrin-ethylene oxide (ECO), a compound based on this material, with a fuel impermeable layer imbedded in it, is used to coat high strength nylon fabric. So made, the coated fabric meets the prime qualifications for collapsible fuel storage tank use. Performance and mechanical characteristics are reported. (Modified author abstract)
