Role of the Heart in the Pathogenesis of Endotoxin Shock.

Abstract

The purpose of the report is to review, analyze and correlate the pertinent clinical and basic literature in septic or endotoxin shock in order to reveal patterns of myocardial participation in the pathogenesis of the shock state. To be considered are reports of clinical septic shock, subhuman primate endotoxin shock, and findings in animals other than primates, which hopefully should assist the clinician and researcher in developing a working knowledge of the role of the myocardium in shock.
