The USRD Type F39A 1-kHz Underwater Helmholtz Resonator.

Abstract

A reliable, small, lightweight sound source capable of producing a sound pressure level of 170 dB re 1 microPa at 1 kHz using the principle of a Helmholtz resonator was designed and built to satisfy a requirement of the Naval Ship Research and Development Center for a transducer to be used at 300-m depth in the ocean.
