A Comparison Test of the Hypermixing Nozzle.

Abstract

The performance of a class of low area ratio thrust augmenting ejectors has been investigated to determine the effect of increasing the rate of jet mixing at some cost in primary thrust efficiency. Tests were performed with a single shroud and three interchangeable nozzles. A one dimensional analysis was used to compute ideal levels of augmentation and assess the relative importance of the injection losses. It is seen that hypermixing significantly improves ejector performance by making effective diffusion of the mixed flow possible. (Author)
