Selection of the Griseofulvin Producer 'Pen. nigricans Thom' through the Action of Mutagenic Factors,

Abstract

Through the use of mutagenic factors and selection a new variant of the griseofulvin producer was obtained - the strain 52-beige. On the average its activity on a medium with corn flour exceeds the activity of the initial strain 964 by 25%. The span of variability in terms of antibiotic formation is somewhat less for sublines of the 52-beige strain than the span of variability of strain 964; the corresponding coefficients of variability are 44% and 52%. A total of 150 sublines of the 52-beige strain were studied in depth conditions on a medium with corn flour. Considerable variability was noted with respect to antibiotic formation.
