A Nickel(IV) Complex of the B8CH9(3-) Ligand.

Abstract

A nickel(IV) complex of the B8CH9(3-) ligand, (eta-C5H5)Ni(IV)(eta-1-B8CH9), has been isolated in low yield from involving reaction the carbollide (B10CH11(3-). NMR spectroscopic data imply that the nickel and carbon atoms occupy the low-coordinate apices of the bicapped Archimedian antiprism polyhedron, thus generating a B4 bonding face to nickel. The bonding analogy to the cyclobutadiene ligand is discussed. (Modified author abstract)
