Aperture Coupling by Wire Mesh Modeling,

Abstract

A method is presented whereby the near fields involving coupling through an aperture in a plane screen can be calculated. The technique uses Babinet's principle in which the aperture is replaced by a conducting plate. The plate is modeled by a wire mesh and the currents on the grid structure calculated by the method of moments. Numerical results are presented for both electrically small apertures and electrically larger cases in which the size of the aperture is on the order of the wavelength of the incident field. Computed results are compared with experimental measurements for a half wavelength by quarter wavelength rectangular aperture. (Author)
