Error Control Techniques for Line-of-Sight.

Abstract

The report deals with the characteristics of the line-of-sight communications channel. It delves into the noise phenomenon commonly encountered on the channel with emphasis placed on the types of noise found on this particular link, Fort Hancock, New Jersey to Camp Kilmer, New Jersey. Recommendations for combatting these noise problems, based on field test results, are given. The application of error control coding has been shown to be the least effective method for alleviating the noise problems on well engineered links such as this. (Author)
