The Power Plants of Vertical Takeoff and Landing Aircraft,

Abstract

In the book are described the types of power plants of vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) aircraft, their operating conditions, the characteristics and features of construction. Considerable attention is given to the effect of the exhaust jets of power plants on the takeoff and landing areas, the aircraft and engine. The measures which reduce the adverse phenomena connected with this effect are shown. The questions of the arrangement of power plants on VTOL aircraft are examined also.
