Star-Satellite Processor using Video Disc.

Abstract

A design is presented for video disc processing of electro-optical images to remove stationary star backgrounds. Satellites in the field can easily be discriminated because they move between exposures. The system is proposed as an operator aid rather than a final automated technique because the probability of detection and false alarm characteristics cannot be confidently predicted. The processor was not included in the report of the Lincoln Experimental Electro-Optical System design and is issued separately because of general interest in star/satellite processing systems.
