Evaluation of the Commercial Model U.S. Divers Co. Two Stage Aqua Lung Regulator (Aqua-Master) for Use on Surface Supplied Diving (Using Hookah),

Abstract

A commercial model of U. S. Divers Co. new two stage Aqua Lung regulator, the AQUA-MASTER, is evaluated as regards its Hookah attachment for low pressure, surface supplied demand-type diving. Low pressure (75-100 psi at surface) is introduced through a Hookah attachment into the interstage cavity. Mechanical respirator and trapeze ergometer tests, similar to those required by the MILSPEC, are reported. The regulator is recommended as satosfactory for use to 60 ft. with a surface air pressure of 70 ti 100 psi. Recommendations are also made towards the inclusion of the diving technique in the diving manual. (Author)
