Acme (Scott) Pre-Packed Disposable CO2 Absorbent Canister,

Abstract

A comparison between the Standard Mark VI CO2 absorbent canister and the proposed ACME (Scott) disposable 'orange' canister showed no significant difference in dimensions, absorbent capacity, resistance characteristics, or absorption profile. According to these parameters, the disposable insert would be an acceptable substitute for the present Mark VI insert. A prototype disposable 'white' canister was also tested and showed early channeling. Zero degree centigrade water halved the absorption duration, essentially removing the calculated safety margin, in the orange disposable canister and the Standard Mark VI canister. The white disposable canister was not tested in cold water. (Author)
