A Look at the Amnesty Question.

Abstract

The basic question is whether or not those Americans who elected to evade the draft or those who deserted the military service during the Vietnam conflict should be granted amnesty, either total, conditional, or no amnesty in any form. It is quite apparent, from the research conducted, that a great disparity of public opinion exists relative to this question and it is not one that can be easily resolved. The question involves the committing of a crime, but the social and moral aspect of the Vietnam conflict has been interjected and hence the question has become a hotly contested political issue, which invariably will be determined by public opinion.
