Investigation of Medical Laboratory Single-Task Automation, Development and Testing of an Automated Multi-Channel Autoanalyzer Analysis System.

Abstract

The report describes the work resulting from a research project which has designed and tested a flexible, reliable multi-channel AutoAnalyzer Analysis System for use in clinical laboratories. It has been shown that the automated portion of this system can be operated easily by relatively unskilled personnel. Total laboratory automation has not been the intent of this project. The aim has been to take advantage of a large number of high reliability excess DOD computers for dedicated small-task automation in the clinical laboratory. This report includes comprehensive documentation of related theory, system design, programming, and testing required to develop a new concept in the automation of medical laboratory tasks.
