A Wideband Shallow Cavity-Backed Sleeve Dipole Aircraft Antenna.

Abstract

A shallow-cavity, open-sleeve cross dipole antenna is described for operation in the 240- to 400-MHz band. The cavity is confined within a volume of 21.75 in. square by 6 in. deep. These dimensions were constrained by the allowable space of the FB-111 aircraft. Measured VSWR and radiation patterns with the cavity mounted on a finite-size ground plane are shown. (Author)
