A Further Study of Life-Testing Models and Simple Estimates for the Logistic Distribution.

Abstract

Section 1 is concerned with simple statistical procedures for location and scale parameters of the extreme-value distribution, and related procedures for parameters of the Weibull distribution. Simple, yet rather efficient, unbiased estimators of the location and scale parameters of the logistic distribution are provided in Section 2. A general method of obtaining simple point estimators of parameters for polynomial hazard function models and a detailed analysis of the linear case are procided in Section 3. In Section 4, a general method for transforming data from a U-shaped hazard function model to some well-known model is discussed. (Modified author abstract)
