The NWL Logic Simulation Program: Tool for Maintainable Digital Design.

Abstract

Logic design verification and fault analysis may be significantly assisted through the use of realistic logic simulations on a digital computer. The Naval Weapons Laboratory Logic Simulation Program accurately simulates the behavior of digital logic resulting from the application of a given input sequence. The simulator is thus valuable as a design verification tool for proposed new digital designs or modifications to existing systems. When supplied with information on how internal logic components can fail, the program can predict system fault responses for a test sequence. The simulator can provide information on the quality of test software and built-in-test hardware which detect and isolate faults and can generate fault dictionaries for use in system troubleshooting.
