Preliminary Data Concerning Measurement of the Characteristics of Atmospheric Aerosol Using a Centrifugal Spectrometer,

Abstract

Several types of aerosol spectrometers which settle out aerosol particles in a centrifugal force field are known. They are all similar in that settling-out of the aerosol particles occurs from a flow, as a result of which the length of the spectra on the substrate can attain sizes of from several tens of centimeters to one and a half meters. The article discusses the design of a spectrometer distinguished from those presently known in that, for the purpose of producing a compact monotonic spectrum, a pencil of particles is created in a gas medium stationary with respect to the device in the direction of activity of the centrifugal forces.
