Analysis of a Dual-Frequency MTI System.

Abstract

The problem of a two-frequency moving target indicators (MTI) system in a general case has been formulated. The author concludes that (a) the two-frequency MTI system sees an increased clutter-doppler variance as compared to that of a single-frequency system (from sigma squared to sigma squared (1 + r squared) where r is the ratio of the carrier frequencies in the two frequency channels) and (b) the mean clutter-doppler frequency, at the same time, is reduced accordingly from f sub 0 to f sub 0 (1 - r).
