Preliminary Report on the Transport and Production of Energetic Electrons in Auroras.

Abstract

A method is described for solving a transport equation for energetic auroral electron fluxes. Selected results are presented for an incident electron flux sharply peaked at 750 ev and isotropic in the downward hemisphere. The results include the energy spectrum of the backscattered flux, downward and upward fluxes at various altitudes, angular distributions of fluxes, and volume production rates. (Author)
