Distribution of Enlisted Personnel.

Abstract

The all volunteer Army has increased the requirement for intensified, centralized management of personnel. Current methods are to a large degree manual; however, this limitation should be overcome by the introduction of a new family of computers (70X) which should come into use during the first half of 1974. Two new personnel management systems are being developed to make use of the greatly expanded capabilities of 70X. These are Standard Installation/Division Personnel System (SIDPERS) and Personnel Deployment and Distribution Management (PERDDIM). PERDDIMS will be the planning and accounting agent, CAP III, an operational system, will assign and SIDPERS will be the communication link between DA and the field. When SIDPERS and PERDDIMS become operational, DA will have for the first time, the capability to centrally manage personnel to the extent necessary in today's Army of specialization and manpower shortages.
