Abstract

The essay deals with termination of conflict. It is limited to Modern American Wars starting with The Civil War. The paper describes the statutory requirements governing the cessation of hostilities; provides a brief historical summary of the cessation of hostilities in modern American wars, and examines negotiations conducted by the United States regarding conflict termination.
