An Alternative to the Classical Economic Order Quantity.
Abstract
A new total cost expression is proposed as analternative to that upon which the classical economic order quantity is based. The new expression is believed to be more appropriate for the problem the classical formula addresses, and is quite tractable. Order quantities computed using the new formula may be significantly less than the economic order quantity, and never exceed it.
