Crater Measurements,

Abstract

Project PreSchooner was the detonation of a four 20-ton chemical explosive cratering charges in basalt. The objectives of the project were: To improve ability to predict crater dimensions in hard rock material as a function of depth of charge burial; to contribute data for design of 100kt nuclear cratering experiment; and to provide information on rupture, upthrust, slope stability and engineering properties of explosively produced craters.
