Study of the VORTAC System and Its Growth Potential.
Abstract
The report describes the basic features of the VORTAC System. The inherent signal and equipment constraints to future development of the system are identified. The report shows that the VORTAC System can evolve to a High-Accuracy-High-Capacity navigation system for the AATMS time frame of 1995 and beyond. Included in the report are System costs, VORTAC deployment, RNAV considerations and integration of the VORTAC System with Synchro-DABS/DME. Recommendations are made for new modular VOR receiver design and a program for cost-effective station operation. (Author)
