Electrolytic Cell with a Heterogeneous Medium,

Abstract

The invention pertains to electrolyzers for the electrolysis of stratified heterogeneous media, for example, emulsions, for obtaining adiponitrile. Known electrolyzers with solid cathodes are not capable of conducting electrolysis of stratified heterogeneous media. With the aim of eliminating this shortcoming, this type of electrolyzer design secures a uniform electrolyte speed over the entire surface of the electrodes, which excludes the possibility of its stagnation and stratification. The presence of swirl vanes between the electrodes causes electrolyte turbulence and guarantees that there will be no stratification of the emulsion, as well as makes possible the washing of products of secondary reaction from the surface of the electrodes.
