Determination of Component Ratios in Industrial Preparations of Neomycin by the Chromatographic Method,

Abstract

The antibiotic neomycin consists of two isomeric components, B and C. It has been shown that the neomycinic antibiotics colimycin (colistin), mycerin, and framycin also consist of no less than two antibiotically active components. The authors used a developed method of chromatographic comparison of N-acetyl derivatives of neomycins B and C. Production series antibiotics in the form of sulfuric acid salts were the initial materials; the latter were converted into a base on resin JRA-400 in OH form, after which acetylation with acetic anhydride in absolute methanol gave N-acetyl derivatives with a yield of 93-96%.
