Coherent Frequency Synthesizer Techniques Study.

Abstract

The report describes the design and operating characteristics of a coherent frequency hopped/pseudonoise modem breadboard that employs a coherent 100-MHz bandwidth pseudonoise waveform structure and which is capable of operating with either 2249 bps or 10 Mbps digital data. The modem makes extensive use of acoustic surface wave tapped delay line technology for both the generation and subsequent processing of the 100-MHz bandwidth form. The report primarily deals with the surface wave techniques used to implement the modem and includes the results of breadboard system testing that revealed a primary operating mode system processing gain within 3 dB of theoretical predictions.
