Formation of N2(+)(B doublet Sigma(+)(u)) and N2(C triplet Pi(u)) in Collisions of H(+) and H with N2,

Abstract

The 200 to 500-nm radiation excited by collisions of beams of 1 to 25-keV H(+), D(+), H, and D with N2 has been studied under thin target conditions with a viewing geometry chosen to minimize polarization effects. Excitation and ionization are discussed. Cross sections are calculated. Experimental and data reduction aspects are considered.
