Run Flat Tire for C-130 Aircraft

Abstract

Four different constructions in 38.5/28x13-16 size folding sidewall tires were manufactured and evaluated under static and dynamic conditions. All constructions showed no bead unseating on static test. However, all constructions showed unseating on dynamic tests. For the various design constructions investigated during Phase I, results showed that an acceptable level was not achieved in improving the 12.50x16 folding sidewall tire's bead seat - run flat operation. For this reason, it was necessary to proceed with bead unseating force measurements, the Phase II alternate approach.
