Certain Mechanisms of Ion Acceleration Using Electron Beams,

Abstract

Among the collective methods, ion acceleration, using relativistic electron rings, is currently attracting widespread attention. There are, however, possibilities for collective acceleration which do not require the use of rings; for example, the long since proposed circuit of shifting focii. The report examines certain other acceleration mechanisms which are possible in principle.
