Abstract

The essay examines the Persian Gulf region as a continuing source of oil to meet the energy requirements of the United States and the free world. Specifically, it investigates the importance of Gulf oil, the effects of the British withdrawal, and the external force at work in the area affecting the future United States strategic interests.
