Aerosol Angular Scattering Functions for Model Atmospheres.

Abstract

A new set of tables is derived (as a function of wavelength, scattering angle, meteorological range, and size parameter), providing values of the aerosol angular scattering functions for the Elterman clear standard and hazy model atmospheres with an effective refractive index of 1.5. The selected wavelengths for each size parameter are 0.40, 0.45, 0.55, 0.65, 0.85, 1.0, and 1.2 micrometers; the scattering angles for each wavelength are 1, 4, 7, 10, 30, 60, 80, 90, 110, 120, 130, 150, and 180 degrees; the meteorological ranges for each wavelength are 23, 13, 10, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, and 2 km, and the size parameters selected 2.5 and 4.0, represent the lower and upper limits in the Junge power law size distribution. These tables will facilitate angular scattering calculations in the field of optical propagation through the atmosphere. (Author)
