Interactive Systems Research

Abstract

The continuing long-term goal of the SDC Speech Understanding Research (SUR) project is to develop and implement a data management system that is controlled and operated by its users through free-form spoken English. The basic approach taken to achieve this goal is distinguished by a modular system architecture that embodies phonological and linguistic processes and an acoustic-phonetic processor. The system architecture enables a complete assembly of multidirectional parsing processes to operate in parallel on the same or different segments of an input utterance.
