The Role of Organizations in the Socialization of Employees.

Abstract

The study is concerned with the extent of socialization that takes place in large organizations. The Naval Missile Center, Point Mugu, California is used as a representative sample large organization. The Center's Equal Employment Opportunity program is the specific area of concentration of the study since it deals with a social problem. It has become a generally accepted fact that large organizations have a role in and a responsibility to the community for the social as well as economic aspects of society. The concept that these organizations systematically or otherwise, mold individual personality and behavior is receiving more attention and acceptance. The process by which this molding takes place is called socialization.
