Cesium Dideuterium Arsenate Crystal Development

Abstract

The results on the growth of cesium dideuterium arsenate from aqueous and mixed solvent systems are reported. Particular emphasis had been placed on the analyses of the factors affecting the solution chemistry of CD*A and their affect upon the resultant growth. The phase stability, solubility and supersaturation of CD*A were determined in both solvent systems. Actual deuteration levels in the crystal and aqueous growth solution are reported and discussed. Preliminary data show the mixed solvent system to be very promising for the reproducible growth of high optical quality CD*A.
