Visual Field Perimeter and Distortion in Diving Masks.

Abstract

The evaluation was made to determine limitation of visual field perimeter and distortion within this perimeter for various diving masks. The report describes use of the perimeter detector and measurement of the visual field and distortion while wearing various diving masks. Restriction of the visual field by the diving masks evaluated was found to be from 40 to 50 degrees. Distortion was found only in the outer 2 degrees of the visual field. The results are discussed and recommendations are made for masks with the least restricted visual field. A standard masks with the least restricted visual field. A standard evaluation procedure is outlined for use in determining visual Field restriction and distortion in diving masks. (Author)
