Aluminum Oxide Kinetics

Abstract

The present work provides kinetic information on Al oxide reactions. To measure such kinetics the authors have modified the AeroChem high- temperature fast-flow reactor to allow direct observation of AlO by laser induced resonance fluorescence. They report here on the experimental methods and on their first observations on the reaction AlO + O2 to AlO2 + O. Rate coefficients are obtained from the observed variations in the relative AlO concentration as a function of reaction time, (O2) and total pressure at each of several temperatures.
