Evaluation of Airfoil Section Characteristics in Ground Effect.

Abstract

The test was begun as an attempt to provide design information on the section characteristics of wings in ground effect. It was found that this objective could not be achieved, so emphasis was shifted to defining trends in the data. The trends showed that profile drag increases as the ground is approached and that the increase is approximately a linear function of height above the ground.
