Capillarity-Limited Steady-State Dendritic Growth. Part 2. Numerical Results.

Abstract

The linearized equations describing nonisothermal, steady-state dendritic growth are solved numerically and the relation between growth rate and supercooling is ascertained. The theoretically predicted growth rates agree with those predicted by the 'modified Ivantsov' analysis at high supercoolings and are higher than those predicted by the Bolling-Tiller-Temkin approach (by a factor of 2.3 at low supercoolings).
