Research on Tactical Military Decision Making: Application of a Decision Prediction Concept in a SIMTOS Environment
Abstract
An experiment was conducted to determine whether predictors of decision quality established in a prior experiment--based on academic achievement and information processing strategy--maintained their effectiveness in a defensive planning scenario incorporating a fully computerized information retrieval capability. A test scenario for defensive planning was developed and administered individually to 20 senior field grade officers. Each officer planned a division defense, in sector, against an expected attack by two mechanized infantry aggressor divisions. Nine predictors selected in a prior experiment were included in the analysis. Four predictors are discussed which maintained substantial predictive stability. (Modified author abstract)
