Abstract

A general description of oceanographic conditions in the areas is followed by a historical account of the investigations made, with emphasis on surveys performed during and after the International Geophysical Year (1957-1958). The literature titles that have been collected alphabetically and chronologically in Vol. 1 are here collected by subject in a series of appendices. (Author)
