Scattering and Absorption of Light in the Atmosphere (Rasseyanie i Pogloshchenie Seveta v Atmosfere),

Abstract

The book presents a detailed survey of light scattering studies of the daytime sky, the results of brightness and polarization measurements of the sky and observations of the horizontal transparency of the atmosphere. The problem of determining the albedo of localities from measurements of the air field of the descending radiation is studied and the apparatus for the measurement of the brightness and polarization of the sky in the ultraviolet region of the spectrum is described. A great deal of attention is given to the study of atmospheric aerosols, in particular, to an investigation of the pure light absorption in aerosols and the spectrum of the large fraction of the particles.
