Narrow Band Signal Spectrum Servomechanism,

Abstract

A simplified servomechanism for a narrow-band signal spectrum, such as a Doppler Spectrum, is discussed. The servomechanism consists essentially of a single-band modulator, synchronous, self-tuning filter with two charging capacitors, an inverter, integrator, level comparator and generator, controlled by a lock-on signal. It operates basically by supplying a voltage to the generator, which drops to zero as the output frequency of the modulator approaches the mean frequency of the filter, at which time the level comparator generates a lock-on signal, changing the computer or other input device to the useful signal tracking mode.
