Radiation and Propagation of Electromagnetic Waves in an Anisotropic Medium,

Abstract

In the work a systematic exposition is given of problems in the propagation of electromagnetic waves emitted by a sheet of current, an infinitely long filament, or an elementary dipole, in a uniaxial anisotropic medium. The field is calculated at an arbitrary distance from the source by rigorous methods. The orientation of the filament of current or the axis of the dipole is assumed to be parallel to or perpendicular to the axis of anisotropy. All problems are solved by a single method, in which the 'physical meaning' remains clear at every stage of the calculation. In all cases considered the solution is given in closed form (plane, cylindrical, conical, and quasi-spherical waves are considered).
