Application of Nonlinear Acoustics to Problems in Inshore Undersea Warfare.

Abstract

Detection and communications problems in inshore undersea warfare require a consideration of normal mode propagation in shallow water. The potential use of parametric transmitting arrays to excite selected modes of propagation is analyzed. The development of experimental apparatus for model tank studies of this phenomenon is described. Comments on the potential use of parametric receiving arrays in shallow water are also included.
