Plasma Injector for HTP Reactors.

Abstract

A study has been made of the feasibility of producing neutralized ion beams by accelerating the ions in a plasma sheath produced by the interaction of an electron beam with gas. This complex process has been subdivided into three areas, beam-plasma interaction, plasma production, and formation of the plasma sheath, which have been studied in some detail. It has been found that the hot electron distribution needed for supporting the plasma sheath can be obtained by beam-plasma interaction. More research is needed for the control of the potential profile in the sheath. (Author)
