Study of the Navy Environmental Protection Data Base.

Abstract

The study assesses the likelihood that the recently initiated Navy Environmental Protection Data Base (NEPDB) will fulfill its objectives as the single centralized Navy service to meet environmental data requirements. The report recognizes the special character of Navy activities, organization, and environmental problems. Because of the recent initiation of the Data Base system, only wastewater emission and air quality data acquisition programs approach being in fully operational status as of September 1973. Procedures and programs for data acquisition regarding control of noise, solid waste management, and land use are in various stages of development.
