Creep Strain in the Vicinity of a Simulated Fastener.

Abstract

The report describes methods devised to determine creep strain in an aluminum plate specimen in the region near a fastener through which load is transmitted to the plate. Techniques are given to determine creep strains alone without the added effects of elastic deformation and thermal strains. The techniques are applied to a test specimen and the results indicate strains are much lower than expected from simple tensile test results. (Author)
