Energy Spectra of the Ocean Surface: III. Modulation by a Surface Current

Abstract

Several models for the analysis of the modulation of the ocean surface wave spectrum by a prescribed surface current are reviewed. Both an eigenmode description and WKB approximation are studied in two horizontal dimensions. The results are expressed as a modulation of the surface wave amplitude power spectrum.
